Stancliffe Hall Open House Event | January 2018 | UK Wedding Blog

2018-02-08T16:23:32+00:00 February 8th, 2018|

January: a new year, a time for new beginnings, and time to really make a start with those wedding plans! We hosted our first ever Open House Event at Stancliffe Hall, from 15th – 20th January, in a bid to not only show people around our stunning venue, but to show them what it would be dressed like for a wedding.

We know it can be hard to visualise your own big day when you’re wandering around a venue, so we gathered some of our favourite local wedding suppliers to help us transform Stancliffe Hall into a gorgeous white winter dream.

…and of course, it did not disappoint!

Stancliffe Hall is such a versatile venue when it comes to styling. The charm and character of the stately home lends itself to all themes, but we particularly loved the lashings of gold against the ivory whites and creams. It was classic, chic and stylish all wrapped up together.

Stunning flowers and greenery hung from bold gold hexagons, whilst candles and cake pops and cute little favours lined the tables. The embellished linens glistened with the glow from the candles, and it truly felt like romance was in the air. It was the most idyllic setting for this crisp, cold January.

2017-10-24T19:47:30+00:00 October 24th, 2017|

On Sunday 15th October, the Honeysuckle & Castle team hosted the Luxurious Wedding Show at Stancliffe Hall as part of our Autumn series of wedding fayre’s, and it proved to be a huge success! Many guests walked through the glorious doors of Stancliffe Hall to get some wedding inspiration for their big day. Brides came with Grooms, bridesmaids, mother-of-the-bride in tow and enjoyed wandering around the grounds to see some of the many amazing suppliers we had with us on the day.

Good Impressions…

A visitor on the day, Amy Allsobrook said: “It was an absolutely delight – so much so that we have decided Stancliffe Hall is the perfect venue for our wedding!”

We had lots of lovely suppliers joining us on the day, with Adam Thomas and The Souljers providing entertainment; the perfect musical backdrop for our guests as they checked out the other suppliers too. There was stationary from Page + Looker, events styling from Spirits High, plus many more…

2018 Wedding Trends

With the latter half of the year upon us, many brides will be starting the countdown to their 2018 wedding.

Whilst weddings will always have those classic, traditional elements, there will also be new trends to take on board when planning your big day. We’re looking forward to some of our favourite 2018 trends:

Bold Florals

Whilst a lot of wedding colour palettes are traditionally ethereal and romantic, typically opting for muted down colours, 2018 trends are telling us ‘the bolder, the better!’. Bride’s will be adding a pop of brightness to their bouquets to give it a modern twist.

For Spring, we’re loving the addition of bright blues and purples, whereas Summer opens up to a palette of hot fuchsia pinks. As the weather turns cooler, Autumn bouquets will see pops of canary yellow and burnt oranges, and winter will see icy whites brightening up the floral arrangements.

In terms of venues and decor, 2018 will see a surge in see-through designs. Think glasshouses and light, airy spaces; table plans written on Perspex, and tracing paper. This trend is great for those who are opting for a minimalistic vibe with clean lines and stripped back decor; all of our venues are a great blank canvas to take on the transparency trend; with this, you can let the venue do all of the talking.

Stripping Back Traditions

More so than ever, couples are stripping back wedding traditions and curating a day that totally encapsulates them. Whether it’s cutting down the guest list in favour of a small, intimate affair, or opting for fish and chips as opposed to your 3-course dinner, or even throwing in a games hour to give your guests a bit of fun after the ceremony. At Honeysuckle & Castle, we really want to create a day that is perfect for you, whatever that might be!

Hosting a Mid-Week Wedding | UK Wedding Blog

2017-09-11T16:54:59+00:00 September 11th, 2017|

It goes without saying that a majority of couples tend to opt for a weekend wedding. By typically choosing a Saturday as the Big Day, it means that most guests will not be at work, and put simply, it will cause the least inconvenience for everyone else.

But what about you?

In recent years, there has been an increase in ‘Mid-Week Weddings’, and they are fast becoming a new wedding trend amongst money-savvy couples. There are many advantages to booking mid-week, including:

Weddings are expensive business, but its a special occasion that deserves to be made the most of. When budgeting for your Big Day, you will have to prioritise what you can and can’t have; in some cases, a couple may find their dream venue but find weekend prices are way over their budget. This is where a mid-week wedding come in; it means that you won’t have to compromise on your venue of choice! A mid-week wedding at Stancliffe Hall starts from just £6,900, meaning you can make a huge saving on your Big Day.

There are only so many weekends in a year, but weekdays are plentiful, meaning you have many more options to book your celebrations. If you have a particular date in mind which just happens to fall on a weekday, then there is a higher chance that this date will be available. This is great for couples who may be wanting to secure a last minute deal…

For couples who want to jet off on their honeymoon immediately after their nuptials, they can take advantage of mid-week flight deals. So not only will you save on the wedding, but you’ll save on the honeymoon too!

As with everything, there will be disadvantages. One of the main factors which deters couples from booking midweek weddings is the worry that their guests may not be able to take the time off work. If you’re booking a last minute wedding, then this is a risk you will have to take. However, if you’re booking a mid-week wedding with 12+ months’ notice, then ensure your Save the Dates are sent out with plenty of time so your guests can book their time off work.

IS IT GOOD LUCK IF IT RAINS ON YOUR WEDDING DAY // If we quickly asked you to name your biggest wedding day fear, what would it be? If you said rain on your wedding day you’re most likely to be in good company.

As wedding coordinators, we always find ourselves being the ones to calm nerves, that give kind words of wisdom and the ones who know the best possible outcome however, when it comes to rain, unfortunately theres just nothing we can do about Mother Nature! Besides, if rain is a symbol of good luck, surely we should grab an umbrella and smile! Yes you heard right….in many cultures, rain is seen as a symbol of good luck!

A DAY IN A LIFE OF A STANCLIFFE BRIDE // We had the pleasure of having the super talented Laura, of Edge Events, join us at our recent Wedding Show (4th June 2017) in which she beautifully entertained our guests with a ballad or two.

It was only until Laura expressed how excited she was to be back there we realised that a little while ago, Laura experienced Stancliffe Hall from a bridesmaids perspective at her sisters (Claire) wedding. Stancliffe Hall had the absolute pleasure of hosting Claire and Robs gorgeous, quirky and FUN wedding and it is just as pleasurable revisiting that special day and sharing it with you. (more…)
