Q. What time would you advise is a good time to host the ceremony?
A. The time will very much depend on the availability of the registrar; however, we find that between 1.00pm and 2.00pm tend to be the most popular options. Timings are based on your requirements and plans. See below for an example of how the day would unfold:
1.30pm – Ceremony
2.00pm – Drinks Reception
3.00pm – Group Photographs & Confetti
3.30pm – Guests to be Seated/Speeches
4.45pm – Wedding Breakfast
7.30pm – Evening Guests to Arrive
11.30pm – Last Orders/Music to end
12.00am – Carriages

Q. We’ve booked the venue, what do we do now?
A. The next important step is to book the registrar. It is a legal requirement that you book and organise the registrar
therefore this isn’t something we can do on your behalf. Please contact Bakewell Registry Office direct on 01629 535261 to book your wedding date and to arrange giving notice of marriage.
B. The Coghlans catering team will be in touch within 4 weeks to introduce themselves and to discuss your catering requirements. If you would like to make contact sooner, please do not hesitate to do so.

Q. How many guests can we invite?
A. Both the 1816 Room & The Whitworth Room can comfortably accommodate 100 seated guests. An additional 50 guests can join the celebrations in the evening.

Q. How many chairs are on each row in The 1816 Room?
A. There are 4 chairs on each row.

Q. May we throw confetti?
A. Yes with pleasure however, to protect the wildlife at Stancliffe Hall, please only use real rose/flower petals or
biodegradable confetti.

Q. How many guests can we fit to a table for the Wedding Breakfast?
A. We can comfortably seat 10 guests on our round tables.

Q. Do we get to try our Wedding Breakfast Menu?
A. Yes, Coghlans will invite you for a tasting session. At this complementary tasting session, you will be able to try 2 starters, 2 main meals and 2 desserts.

Q. Does Stancliffe Hall have accommodation for my guests? A. Yes, we have eight suites:

Flamingo Suite (Sleeps 2) Full living suite with en-suite
Sir Joseph (Sleeps 2) King size with en-suite
Lady Mary* (Sleeps 2) King size with en-suite
Garrett Suite* (Sleeps 4) Full living suite with two king size en-suite bedrooms

Prep Room* (Sleeps 2) Double room
Linen Room* (Sleeps 2) Twin beds with the pink en-suite
Matron’s Room* (Sleeps 2 + 2 ) King size / small room for 2 infants (1 x cot / 1 x small single) with en-suite
*Lift access available.

Q. We would also like to book the Holiday cottage. How do we do this?
A. For availability, costings and further details regarding Yew Tree Cottage, please visit
www.derbyshirecountrycottages.co.uk. Availability is limited, so we advise you book the cottage as soon as possible.

Q. Can you recommend any local hotels and taxi companies for guests not staying at the hall?
A. Yes absolutely, we have a printable list containing this vital information available at www.stancliffehallweddings.com/guest-information. Please feel free to include this web address within your invitations.

Q. When will the bar close?
A. Last orders are called at 11.20 pm and the bar will close shortly after. Music is to finish at 11.30pm also. We ask that non-staying guests leave the estate no later than 12.00am. As soon as none staying guests have left the estate, the bar will reopen for staying guests only.

Q. When will the bar open?
A. The bar will open after the ceremony.

Q. Can we leave cars over night?
A. If your wedding party is staying the night at Stancliffe Hall, non-staying guests are very welcome to leave vehicles
overnight. Vehicles are left at the owners’ own risk and must be collected the following day by 10am.
B. If your wedding party is not staying the night at Stancliffe Hall, sadly your guests can not leave their vehicles overnight.

Q. What sort of music may we have, and until what time?
A. A disco or a live band is permitted. We do have a list of suppliers of discos, but you are welcome to use your own preferred choice, should this be the case, we must receive a copy of their Public Liability Insurance and PAT test certificates at least one week before your wedding date.

Q. When does the music end?
A. Music finishes at 11.30pm

Q. Can we have candles?
A. Yes candles are permitted within The 1816 Room and the Whitworth Room however, within The 1816 Room, we do ask
that candles are in a votive and the flame is not exposed.

Q. When can our venue stylist decorate? When can our suppliers deliver/set up?
A. Honeysuckle & Castle will happily liaise with all your confirmed suppliers to arrange delivery/set up/collection etc. This will be done at approximately 4 weeks prior to your special day.

Q. Why do we need insurance?
A. It’s easy to see Wedding Insurance as another expense however, for how little it costs, Wedding Insurance can offer
you a great peace of mind and a financial safety net. Insurance can cover everything from freak weather conditions, the cancellation of suppliers to damage and injuries caused by your wedding guests. From our perspective, our aim is to prolong and protect Stancliffe Hall. Sadly accidents do happen therefore, if damage is caused by a guest for example, with the correct insurance cover, you personally will not be the one counting the losses.
